Tournament FAQ

Public tournaments

Practical answers for organizers, players, and visitors using the tournament platform.

Organizers can create tournaments, register players, generate tables, record table results, publish standings, and attach a board configuration to every round.

A private tournament is visible only to its organizer and super-admins. When the organizer enables public results, everyone can view the tournament, rounds, tables, and standings in read-only mode.

Tables contain three or four players, with four preferred. For example, 10 players are seated as one table of four and two tables of three. After round one, seating can be random while avoiding repeat opponents, or based on standings.

Yes. Add a table exception between two players when they should not be seated together. The generator respects these exceptions whenever a valid arrangement exists.

Mark the player offline. Their previous results remain in the tournament history, but they are excluded from future rounds. They can be reactivated later.

The latest round can be regenerated only before any result is saved and before a later round exists. On that same unlocked round, organizers can swap players between tables or move one player from a four-player table to a three-player table.

With standings-based seating, the current round must be finished first. Random seating can generate the next round without that restriction, up to the tournament's configured round count.

Each round accepts either a map hash from this site's board generator or a complete external URL. Visitors see the resolved board link alongside the round.

Open the Scoring guide from the navigation. It explains victory points, table placement points, ties, claimed victory, and tournament standings.

Public organizer profiles, announcements, events, tournament information, player display names, links, and images must be directly related to Catan tournaments or Catan community activity. Spam, deceptive promotion, unrelated commercial content, sexual or exploitative material, hate, harassment, threats, graphic violence, self-harm promotion, illegal content, malware, and other harmful material are prohibited.

Text and uploaded organizer images may be checked automatically before publication. Automated filtering reduces abuse but cannot detect every violation. If prohibited or unrelated content is detected later, it will be permanently removed. Serious or repeated abuse may also result in the organizer account being disabled. Publication on this platform does not create a right to continued hosting.
